Who We Are (AfriCHAN)

The African Centre for Health and Nutrition (AfriCHAN) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to improving health, nutrition, and community well-being across Uganda and the African continent. We work with families, communities, district health systems, research institutions, and development partners to create lasting solutions that strengthen health outcomes and reduce malnutrition, especially among the most vulnerable populations.

Founded in Eastern Uganda, AfriCHAN combines research, innovation, and community-driven action to empower communities and build stronger, healthier generations.

WHY WE EXIST

Millions of children and mothers across Africa still lack access to basic health and nutrition support. Community health systems remain under-resourced, and many families face challenges such as:

  • Malnutrition
  • Poor sanitation
  • Limited health services
  • Food insecurity
  • Limited access to credible information
AfriCHAN exists to bridge these gaps by offering support, education, and sustainable solutions that uplift entire communities.

OUR IMPACT

Through our programs, AfriCHAN has:

  • Conducted outreach serving thousands of children and mothers
  • Trained hundreds of health workers and VHTs
  • Strengthened health systems in multiple districts
  • Launched innovative research projects
  • Improved nutrition practices within households
  • Supported women, youth, and vulnerable families
  • Enhanced district data reporting and planning
We continue to grow and expand our reach across regions.
