Community Health Volunteers Receive New Equipment to Boost Nutrition and Health Services

AfriCHAN has equipped over 150 Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) with essential tools to improve community-level health services in Uganda’s Eastern region. The distribution is part of AfriCHAN’s broader effort to strengthen community health systems, reduce malnutrition, and improve early detection of childhood illnesses. The new equipment will help CHVs perform their duties more effectively and maintain accurate health records.

Why This Support Matters

CHVs play a critical role in Uganda’s health structure. They are often the first point of contact for: Mothers needing breastfeeding support Children requiring growth monitoring Families with hygiene or nutrition challenges Households facing disease outbreaks However, most CHVs work with limited resources, which affects their ability to provide quality services. AfriCHAN’s equipment support aims to fill this gap.

Impact of the Distribution

Early feedback shows strong positive outcomes: Increased community trust in CHVs Improved tracking of malnutrition cases Better follow-up for referred children More accurate reporting to health facilities Stronger coordination between CHVs and health workers District health officials commended AfriCHAN for empowering frontline workers.
